NEW ORLEANS — Automotive Compliance Education (ACE) Executive Director Gil Van Over III will deliver the luncheon keynote address at this year’s Industry Summit, which will be held Sept. 16-18 at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside.

Van Over’s address, “Dealers, Agents and the FTC CARS Rule,” will begin at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Hilton’s Churchill Ballroom. The session will be a working lunch for those who have yet to create a plan for the CARS Rule, which is on track to be finalized in the first quarter of 2025 following court challenges that delayed its implementation.

Designed by the Federal Trade Commission to protect consumers from illegal practices, the Combating Auto Retail Scams Rule will put new pressure on dealers and agents.

“We don’t know for sure how the final rule will look, but the underlying theme is full disclosure to reduce potentially deceptive sales practices,” Van Over said. “The paper trail is a great best practice that should be implemented today.”

Van Over will be on hand after the presentation to sign free copies of his most recent book, “Automotive Compliance in a Digital World.”
